قتل qatala u (qatl) to kill, slay, murder, assassinate (ه s.o.); to mitigate, alleviate (هـ s.th., e.g., البرد al-barda the cold, الجوع al-jū‘a the hunger); to mix, dilute (ب هـ s.th. with, e.g., wine with water); to know, master (هـ s.th., e.g., a skill) │ قتله خبرا (علما) (kubran, ‘ilman) or قتله درسا وبحثا (darsan wa-baḥtan) to know or master s.th.
